About the prize

The Footscray Art Prize is a biennial non-acquisitive visual art prize for contemporary artworks across multiple platforms and disciplines.

It is open for entries nationally and does not have a theme.

Established in 2016, it contributes to Footscray's reputation as a thriving cultural hub that supports and fosters the arts, and provides an opportunity to celebrate this artistic vibrancy and creativity.

Categories

The Footscray Art Prize is comprised of four categories. The winners of each category will be announced on Thursday 20 June.

$10,000

The exhibition of shortlisted works will be held at Footscray Community Arts Centre from 20 June - 20 July.

Street art prize

$5,000

The winning Street Art Prize design will be installed 174 Nicholson Street, Footscray (wall facing Irving Street) after 20 June.

tertiary prize

$1,500

The exhibition of shortlisted works will be held at VU at MetroWest.

young artists prize

Primary $500
secondary $500

All artworks will be exhibited at VU at MetroWest from 20 June - 20 July.
